Downtown San Diego Holiday Bowl Parade

I got up early New Years eve Morning to see the balloon parade. I’ve always wanted to see it so this year I didn’t miss it. It took me awhile but I finally found a place to park, in a tight spot, but unknowingly it became a fantastic view where the balloons all went to deflate!

Here’s my imaginary San Diego family.

Here’s a piggy.

Thought I was dreaming when I saw this T-Rex floating down the street.

This must have been that worm in my tequila.

I want to be the wizard of WordPress.

Went downtown early this New Year's Eve morning and was lucky enough to park where I shouldn't to get these great shots of our San Diego balloon parade. It brings out the child in me and is a smaller version of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day. It was fun!

Is there a need to fear?

This was my favorite shot!

Now the only question is… are you old enough for…Granny Goose?

I thought the parade was over when this space shuttle balloon came by. This was the last float. Happy New Year!

San Diego Comic Festival

I had the privilege of being invited to attend the San Diego Comic Festival last weekend for Free by Photoshop impresario, Stephen Burns.

What a smorgasbord of creativity! First, Stephen taught a lesson on how to use Photoshop to create 3-D. Then I went to another suite called the Crescent Room where there was a participatory lecture about how the ancient Hawaiians navigated by direction. Then, back in the design studio, there was a class on 3D printing. The instructor said they couldn’t quite print organs yet for your body, but dentists do use a 3D printer to print replacement teeth. Whole houses have also been 3D printed for the fraction of what they usually cost, even though they don’t compare to most conventional homes. But mostly 3D is being used to print doodads and chachkes like these below.

Then in the same room, a drone seminar started with Josh Freidman. He showed how his drones can showcase Laguna Beach real estate and told us that San Diego county restricts drones for similar purposes. I asked him if he would fly a drone in the room or outside and he said he wouldn’t. That was a real disappointment. But it was interesting to learn about drones and how they can be used with Adobe Lightroom to create panoramic photography.

Here, Josh shows us that drones are now becoming flying cars in Dubai.

Wonder Woman @ Comic-Con

After attending Comic-Con this year, we walked in on this crowd pleasing Super Hero, juggling & shaking her “thang” after dark in the closed off streets of San Diego’s Gaslamp District.

Peter Pan In San Diego

I spotted these two near the Star of India in San Diego. What is Tinkerbell doing in the same place as Jack Sparrow? Whatever happened to Captain Hook? And where’s Peter Pan when you need her/him?

I caught this gal’s cosplay while I was struggling  to find a parking spot at Ocean Beach.

Naked Skydiving @ Comic-Con

Naked Skydiving @ Comicon.  Here I am at the Intel Booth of the Geek exhibit, sponsored by Intel.  This is where I posed with an animated dog against a green screen, with copies of my novel, “Naked Skydiving.”
They had many other CGI green screen designs, you could pose with for free, but this dog was so cute, I had to choose it.

“Naked Skydiving” is the autobiographical novel, about the personal life of a dream interpreter, traveling through the Californias, before 9-11. Copies of “Naked Skydiving” are available by emailing Jordan Schaffner, the author at youtopiamedia@gmail.com or in person by appointment in San Diego.
