San Diego Comic Festival
I had the privilege of being invited to attend the San Diego Comic Festival last weekend for Free by Photoshop impresario, Stephen Burns.
What a smorgasbord of creativity! First, Stephen taught a lesson on how to use Photoshop to create 3-D. Then I went to another suite called the Crescent Room where there was a participatory lecture about how the ancient Hawaiians navigated by direction. Then, back in the design studio, there was a class on 3D printing. The instructor said they couldn’t quite print organs yet for your body, but dentists do use a 3D printer to print replacement teeth. Whole houses have also been 3D printed for the fraction of what they usually cost, even though they don’t compare to most conventional homes. But mostly 3D is being used to print doodads and chachkes like these below.

Then in the same room, a drone seminar started with Josh Freidman. He showed how his drones can showcase Laguna Beach real estate and told us that San Diego county restricts drones for similar purposes. I asked him if he would fly a drone in the room or outside and he said he wouldn’t. That was a real disappointment. But it was interesting to learn about drones and how they can be used with Adobe Lightroom to create panoramic photography.
Here, Josh shows us that drones are now becoming flying cars in Dubai.
Some of the more classic women’s comics.
Fun Females and Super Heroines.
Santa Clones
Since I’m Jewish, when I was a child, my parents told me Santa was fake. I went to school and told all the other kids he was fake too! Boy was I on the naughty list after that! I had to go to the principal’s office and he met with my parents. The principal told me that even if he wasn’t real, it’s not nice to tell the other kids. I cried and apologized, but now I can’t help telling the truth and these pictures of multiple Santas in an Ocean Beach bar prove it.
